What's My Story
Somewhere between the bench and the boardroom, I learned the same lesson.
For over twenty years, I worked as a judge and a lawyer, inside some of Canada's toughest legal rooms. I watched conflict show up again and again. Relationships broken. Trust gone. Families and businesses picking up pieces that never had to fall apart in the first place.
Early in my career, someone I trusted told me straight: I'd have to choose. Motherhood, or a real legal career. Not both. I didn't argue. But something in me said no.
Today, I'm a wife and a mother of six. I built a career at the top of my field. I've won the Creativity and Innovation Award and the Lincoln Alexander Award, and I've spoken for the Top 100 Black Women Summit. I'm not telling you this to impress you. I'm telling you because I built all of it while people kept saying it couldn't be done. That my dreams weren't realistic. That I'd have to pick one lane.
I never picked one. Instead, I built this on one simple belief:
That belief runs through everything I do. Helping leaders resolve conflict without losing the relationship. Helping women carry every role they hold, without putting one down. Helping communities build a justice system that sees the person, not just the file. And reminding anyone who's ever heard "no" from an expert: the story isn't over.
This is my work. It's also just my life.
